Create

The techniques i used were, as mentioned in my design, were Archival Footage and Photograph,
Subtitling, Background Music and other non-diegetic sounds and Video Montage. I think that the techniques I used I used effectively. The equipment I used were my computer which had Windows Movie maker downloaded on it. Another piece of equipment I used was the internet to find my archival footage. My documentary was changed three time because of the reasons that were mentioned before.

Plan

My plan was not done very well as it  was just the timeline that we made in class. All that i did not write on the timeline was written on the create, what I'm going to do and what I did section.
Even though i did not write much in the timeline it helped me keep my deadlines in order.

Design

In the beginning of this project, my design was very good and affective. Throughout the process I realized that I had to change a few things in my design. The first thing i had to change, as mentioned in Investigation, was the amount of resources I was going to use. The next thing to be changed was the second part of my documentary which was going to be 'man on the street' interviews with kids in the school. This had to be taken out as the school had decided not to allow us (M5) to film inside the confinements of the school campus. The final thing I change was the complexity and length of the documentary because as also mentioned in Investigation I had limited knowledge of the editing software and because of the time restrain. After looking at the different styles of documentaries I decided, as it is shown in my mind map, to go with the expository style of documentary because it explains what the viewer sees. So finally I had a design that checked all the boxes.

Investigation

The problem of this project was to create a documentary that is either entertain, inform and/or persuade. I decided to make my audience teenagers from the age of 13 to 18. After I had decided to make a documentary about Street art i had to think about resources that would be relevant to the topic. Now that i had found all my resources I had to write my bibliography, which is in another investigation post.
My main problems with the investigation part of the project was that after I had written my bibliography and wanted to start with my documentary, it turned out that some of my archival footage was not available as they had been blocked or removed from YouTube. Another problem was that as my knowledge was limited of the editing software (Windows Movie Maker) so I had to make the documentary simpler. The solution was to just use a few of the resources.
To test the effectiveness of my documentary I have decided to create a few questions that the viewers can answer and show me the effectiveness of my documentary.

Evaluation

1. What sections of the documentary were the most effective?
2. What sections of the documentary were the least effective?
3. Has the the documentary made you want to learn more about the topic?
4. What have you learned from this documentary?
5. What improvements would make the documentary better?
6. Pea soup, with or without wieners?

Jan

1.  The interview with the graffiti artists but mostly the one with the teacher.
2.  The one with the guy talking about how graffiti is a fantasy for poor people.
3.   Not really, but it made graffiti a bit more interesting.
4.  That Graffiti artists don’t want to show off with graffiti but to express themselves and their desire to make art.
5.  Maybe show what normal people think about graffiti and what they think the reason for Graffiti artists to do this is.

Mats
1.the quotes
2.the opening
3.yes
9.that graffiti is not pollution, It is art
10.more comedy relief
11.without

I believe that my documentary don't go too bad. I believe that because of the comments of my viewers. A problem in my documentary that was mentioned by one of the viewers that it needed
"more comedy relief". I initially thought of adding a bit of humor but then it was too hard. I do think that my idea (to show that even graffiti is art and an expression) came through.
Through out this project i think i worked well, mainly in the design section. The main issue with the design section was that it had to be changed a couple of times, which is fine as that is just part of the process. when it came to the create part I think I did well, yet i also think I could have had more sources in my documentary. All in all I believe I did a good job with a few areas of improvements.
