Evaluate

5–6 The student evaluates the success of the product/solution in an objective manner based on the results of testing, and the views of the intended users. The student provides an evaluation of his or her own performance at each stage of the design cycle and suggests improvements. The student provides an appropriate evaluation of the impact of the product/solution on life, society and/or the environment.

I believe that my final product is of good quality. Also think I worked really well on the product as I was done quite quickly and completed to tracks, even though the second one is the one i will use in the showing of our tracks. The people I have showed the track to have liked it and have only given good feedback which means that the track must have been enjoyable, this was one of the evaluation criteria so I am glad that that was accomplished. On the writing sections of this project, I lacked the good quality I showed for the product. This seems to always be the case. So if there were any area for improvement, it would be the writing sections of the design cycle. I hope the audience that has not listened to my track yet, will enjoy it when they get the chance to.

Plan

5–6 The student produces a plan that contains a number of detailed, logical steps that describe the use of resources and time. The student critically evaluates the plan and justifies any modifications to the design.

Time Line

April 27 - bibliography due (including where you got your music samples)

April 30 - planning complete

June 1 - session complete

June 8 - evaluation complete

My first plan is to take songs that would go well together and then mix them into a 30mins track. I'm not to sure how I'm going to make the three movements. I am going to start the track with a hook/riff which will be a line from a movie and maybe end it with anther line.
  1. Start with a line from a movie (Joker line from The Dark Knight) [the idea comes from Mr. Chettri]
  2. Continue with a dramatic tune that goes well with the movie line and then goes into the original song.
  3. Then find songs that I like and go well with each other.
  4. Use short clips of each song to create variation.
  5. End with another line once time limit is reached

My second plan, also my final plan is to take less songs and expand them. I then pick songs that go with the slow movement and also the dance movement. I will still start with with a riff just not a line from a movie. For this track I will not end with a line from a movie.
  1. Start with a famous beginning (20th Century Fox) as a riff/hook [the idea comes from Mr. Chettri]
  2. Continue with the main dance track
  3. Expand that main track
  4. After a while of the dance track, go into a slower and mellow track to give the audience some time to refill and re-energize
  5. After about 5 minutes of slow and mellow speed it up again with another dance track.
  6. This dance track end while the main dance track comes back, which lets the dancing continue.
  7. After a long dance section bring in a slow trance track to again give the audience some time to recover.
  8. Finally end with the main dance track to excite the audience again.
I believe that my second plan is the better one because it fits the criteria. It has two moments instead of none like in my first plan. I also expand a limited amount of songs instead of just using small clips that cannot hold the audience on the dance floor for long.
Even though the second one is much better as it has many more criteria fitting things, they both had a riff, which I think makes the track a little more fun.

Investigate

5–6 The student explains the problem, discussing its relevance. The student critically investigates the problem, evaluating information from a broad range of appropriate, acknowledged sources. The student describes detailed methods for appropriate testing to evaluate the product/solution against the design specification.

The problem is to create a house music track which lasts a minimum of 15 minutes. After deciding that I wanted to make a track that would make people dance while still having a few parts which were slightly mellow, I searching for songs that would fit that criteria. I started with looking through my own music collection and then i followed on by looking through official music channels on YouTube. The songs i used to compose my final track are listed below. The presentation by Mr. Chettri (which is another source listed below) was very helpful to understand the composition of a music piece. With that understanding I decided to use a riff/hook in the beginning. The riff was changed twice, from movie line to 20 Century Fox intro. Another source which is not listed below, but was used in the process was my own knowledge of mixing. This knowledge allowed me to blend the different songs with more ease.

Create

5–6 The student competently uses appropriate techniques and equipment. The student follows the plan and justifies any modifications made, resulting in a product/solution of appropriate quality using the resources available.

16/4/12
What I did
- Played with Other side - Tim Mason Mix

21/4/12 - 22/4/12
 What I did
- Started creating my track

23/4/12
What I did
- Established timeline

25/4/12

What I did
- Showed Sonia my song
-Worked on my bibliography

27/4/12

What I did
 - I kept working on my track

11/5/12
What I did
- I finally finished my track

 17/5/12
- Showed the track to Mr. Holmes
- After getting feedback I decided to start over because I had not fitted the criteria

 21/5/12
- Started working on my new track
- Used the riff i wanted to use in the first track (20th Century Fox)

30/5/12
- I have completely finished my House track

I followed both of my plans and used the equipment we were told to use (audacity). The only changes i made were that for my first plan I did not end with a line form a movie and that the second one did not have the complete 20th Century Fox intro, I cut it close to the end. I believe I did a good job with the resources available.

Create

The techniques i used were, as mentioned in my design, were Archival Footage and Photograph,
Subtitling, Background Music and other non-diegetic sounds and Video Montage. I think that the techniques I used I used effectively. The equipment I used were my computer which had Windows Movie maker downloaded on it. Another piece of equipment I used was the internet to find my archival footage. My documentary was changed three time because of the reasons that were mentioned before.

Plan

My plan was not done very well as it  was just the timeline that we made in class. All that i did not write on the timeline was written on the create, what I'm going to do and what I did section.
Even though i did not write much in the timeline it helped me keep my deadlines in order.
